Annual Christmas Dinner

Event will have a different look to protect the health and safety of all

  • When: Friday, December 25, 2020. Doors open at 10 a.m. and volunteers will be on hand to guide guests to the entrances. Meal service is scheduled to end at 12:30 p.m., or until meals run out.​ 
     

  • Where: Phoenix Convention Center in Downtown Phoenix, located at 100 N. 3rd St., in the South Building (southeast corner of Washington St. and 3rd St.)

  • What: There will be no sit-down dine-in option this year. This will be replaced with “Fast Track” to-go meals, featuring counters in the Convention Center’s South Building, which people can access through a socially-distanced line to pick up a hot meal in a to-go container before exiting the building.

    There will also be a contactless drive-thru meal pickup option in the South Building loading dock, on the east side of the building, off 5th St., from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (or until meals run out)

    Due to COVID-19 precautions, there will be no extra activities normally provided at the event, such as live entertainment, haircuts, family photos, games, and photos with Santa. We are sorry, but everyone’s health and safety are of the utmost priority.
     
    Each family receiving a dinner will also receive a family game or puzzle as a gift, while supplies last.  
     

  • Who: This event is open to the public, people of all ages. No advance signup or registration required.

  • Safety: Face coverings will be required of anyone coming inside; they will be provided for anyone without. Salvation Army officers, volunteers and staff will all be wearing proper PPE, and hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.

  • Cost: FREE! Dinner is compliments of The Salvation Army and our valued community partners.

  • Parking: Please keep in mind that parking meters and most parking garages/lots are NOT free on Thanksgiving Day in downtown Phoenix. The East Garage, on the corner of E. Jefferson St. and S. 5th St., directly across from the Phoenix Convention Center South Building, is available for free parking for this event only.
     

  • Volunteers: Volunteers are needed for dinner prep the days leading up to Christmas, for the security team and kitchen clean up team on Christmas Day – and volunteer drivers are needed to use their personal vehicle to deliver meals to our homebound neighbors in need on Christmas Day. Hurry, these great opportunities to serve your community fill up quickly!
